Outreach / Missions

Jesus calls us to go into the world, to reach out and care for others.  St. Stephen’s is indeed a mission-oriented church and has several opportunities for you to minister to the world.

Ongoing – we collect needed items in the breezeway bins for the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR), Day Center for the Homeless, Emergency Infant Services, and Broken Arrow Neighbors

Weekly – volunteers for Mission Time on Tuesday mornings have fellowship around a table while they work on projects to benefit the above organizations, at-risk school children, or other mission areas

Monthly – once a month on Wednesday afternoons we duplicate the Tuesday morning Mission Time; the 3rd Wednesday of the month we go to Cookson Hills Mission Center in Cookson, OK to help out in any area that they may need; the 4th Friday of the month, we work in conjunction with St. Paul’s UMC, Tulsa, to help serve lunch to the homeless at Manna Meals

Annually – we volunteer with and monetarily support Project Transformation, a summer literacy program; collect items needed for campers at New Day Camp, for children with incarcerated parents; host the Pumpkin Patch, selling pumpkins to raise money for youth and adult missions; buy gifts for the Angel Tree, Christmas presents for children in the foster care system; make or buy cold weather accessories (mittens, scarves, hats) for the Mitten Tree, which benefits the homeless; provide financial support for our missionary, Meri Whitaker, serving at Cookson Hills Mission Center

As Needed/Requested – mission projects in the community (lawn care, home repairs, etc.)

Mission Trips – adults have served at Sager Brown in Louisiana (UMCOR depot); Henderson Settlement in Kentucky; Moore, Oklahoma; Mexico…where would you like to go and serve?
